Eco Tasmania began as the Solar Acquisition Project of the Waterworks Valley Community, with the purchase of a container of about 40 hotwater systems.
A number of different solar hotwater systems were reviewed, with Apricus being selected as the best value-for-money system that suited Tasmania’s temperate climate.
Further community and word-of-mouth interest from other groups resulted in two more container loads being sold.
A decision was made to commercialise the operation, in order to move towards stock being available at much shorter notice, rather than an 8-week lead time, whilst still keeping prices as low as possible.
The name ‘EcoTasmania’ is licensed from the original not-for-profit group, and we (the commercial arm) pay 5% of our turnover to that group.
They use these funds to encourage sustainable practices, including supporting the work of Sustainable Living Tasmania.
We are now the Tasmanian distributor for Apricus, and supply these systems right across Tasmania.
Although we don’t provide plumbing services, we can let you know of plumbers who have experience installing these systems. Download a current
